Vegetation, Wetlands, & Landscape Ecology

ABR’s Vegetation Science Program is staffed by ecologists, soil scientists, wetlands specialists, and land rehabilitation experts with decades of research experience in Alaska and other northern environments. For more than 35 years, our team has applied our vegetation and wetland science expertise to address a wide range of questions and research needs in ecosystems across Alaska, including the North Slope, Interior, southcentral, and the Aleutian Islands. We have also conducted vegetation studies, soil surveys, and wetland assessments in Lower 48 states, including Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, and the mid-Atlantic region. A particular strength of our team is our ability to integrate field survey data with high-resolution imagery and other remote sensing data to characterize properties of vegetation, soils, and other natural resources relevant to land management issues and regulatory requirements. ABR’s integrated data collection, data management, and mapping system provides high-quality products and cost savings to our clients. Our clients include land managers, ranging from federal agencies such as the National Park Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service; the armed services including the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force; and the oil, natural gas, and mining sectors.

Our mapping and data products are used to support the preparation of Environmental Impact Statements and Biological Assessments; landscape evaluations and risk assessments; wetland determinations and aquatic site assessments; soil and vegetation inventories; and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) applications.
