Montezuma Hills Wind Resources Area Bird and Bat Study, California

ABR collaborated with scientists on a post-construction wind energy study funded by the California Energy Commission that used mobile marine radar, night-vision techniques, and bat acoustic monitoring to document flight directions, flight altitudes, flight behaviors passage rates, and activity levels of nocturnally migrating bird and bats at operational wind developments in the Montezuma Hills. Collaborators conducted concurrent avian and bat fatality monitoring to assess the relationship between these methods and avian and bat fatalities. (2009–2010)
