Lauren has a diverse research background in bird and vegetation studies. She has contributed to Alaska-based studies including ground surveys and behavioral observation of tundra-nesting shorebirds and waterbirds, breeding bird surveys of Interior passerines, and Tundra Swan territory mapping. Additionally, she has been involved with radar studies of bird/bat migration in the Lower 48 and seabird collision in Alaska. Prior to relocating to Alaska, Lauren was involved in numerous projects focusing on nesting, behavior, census, and migration of passerines. She has also assisted in vegetation studies both in Alaska and outside.
