Brian Houseman, M.S. Research Biologist

Brian is a plant ecologist, focusing on the land rehabilitation program. His previous experience included vegetation inventory and monitoring across Alaska, post-fire plant community restoration in the Great Basin, and fire effects monitoring on the Colorado Plateau. For his MS in Biological Sciences from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Brian studied the post-fire dynamics of nitrogen fixation in Siberian alder and landscape-level nitrogen balance across the Alaskan boreal forest.  He currently specializes in measuring and monitoring plant populations in disturbed and rehabilitated ecosystems.
