ABR receives 2016 Alaska Philanthropy Day award for Outstanding Small Business

ABR, Inc. is honored to receive the 2016 Alaska Philanthropy Day award for Outstanding Small Business. This award, given by the Alaska Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, recognizes ABR’s long-term commitment to supporting non-profits through financial, in-kind, and volunteer donations. We have contributed $750,000 over the past 10 years to a range of organizations from local ones such as Fairbanks Counseling and Adoption to international organizations such as Doctors Without Borders.

Donations are only part of ABR’s strategy of giving back to the community. Other components include supporting volunteerism, encouraging philanthropic donations from the staff and their children, supporting socially responsible investing for retirement accounts, and providing financial rewards for environmental stewardship (e.g., alternative transportation support for every day we walk, run, bike, ski, carpool, or take public transportation).

Engaged employees and management are critical to the success of all these strategies and ABR’s great personnel have always been a generous group. For over 20 years, employees have gathered on Thanksgiving morning to prepare and pack meals for approximately 20 individuals and families in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. Our staff volunteer at our local soup kitchens, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, electronics recycling drives, and Habitat For Humanity projects, to list a few. ABR views social responsibility as a core value of its triple bottom line business philosophy. We are proud of and grateful for this recognition.
